Our role

Ashfold was selected from a competitive shortlist to act as Employer’s Agent to DMA to manage the project delivery phase of the refurbishment works. DMA remained in the building throughout the works and Ashfold were instrumental in ensuring their existing training facilities could remain in use throughout the refurbishment works. We also vacated two sub-tenanted areas to allow swing space to be created to enable the works to go ahead. We negotiated and agreed a ‘license to alter’ from the building landlord, The Langham Estate and also coordinated a road closure required to install the new air conditioning rooftop condenser units.

Project details

The Direct Marketing Association is a membership association representing a wide range of businesses. Membership of DMA is a badge of accreditation for more than 1,000 UK companies. The organisation is based in DMA House in London. Three floors of the building had previously been sub-tenanted and in line with the growth of the organisation, these floors were vacated and refurbished in preparation for bringing in additional DMA staff from another office in Teddington.

The refurbishment offered an excellent opportunity to create an office environment that reflects the DMA brand and creates a welcoming environment for staff, DMA members and visitors. The reception area was refurbished and improved to create a positive first impression. The office areas on six floors were in need of a general refresh and the introduction of new comfort cooling units to replace an obsolete air conditioning system. New meeting and training spaces were created and the existing kitchen was relocated and refurbished. New furniture was supplied and installed according to the final room layouts agreed. In addition, recycling facilities, AV and IT were improved where required.
